King Arthur's Castle and The Beauties of Cornwall

Tintagel bay

After long two weeks of nearly constant rain, hailstorms and strong wind, I can only dream of sunshine while looking at pictures of our recent trip. It seems that 1 April was the first and only sunny day of April. Luckily, we decided to spend that day in Cornwall.

Cornwall is absolutely gorgeous. No wonder it's one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK. Blue waters, sand beaches and numerous opportunities for walks along the coast, offering stunning scenery, make this area a perfect summer place to visit.

Wait, I didn't mention the food! Cornwall is also known for its culinary offerings. Where shall I start? Have you heard of the traditional Cornish pasties, local fish and seafood, cream teas with scrumptious scones, thick layer of clotted cream and fruity strawberry jam, Cornish fudge or ice cream? I could go on... Sadly, we only spent one day in Cornwall, so I didn't get to taste everything. A good reason to go back!

Speaking about blue waters, stunning coasts and breathtaking views, Tintagel is the place to visit. What better place to build a castle. Tintagel Castle was built in the 13th century by Richard, Earl of Cornwall and is believed to be the birthplace of King Arthur. Today only the ruins of the castle remain. I can't even imagine how magnificent this place must have been back in the days. I could definitely spend more than just a half a day here, but we wanted to see more of Cornwall.

To finish the already perfect day, we headed south to visit the charming coastal town of St. Ives. Although the tourist season hadn't even started, the town and beach were packed with people who came to enjoy the first sunny days. I was so happy that we arrived just before the golden hour. The town couldn't have been more picturesque.
